Sodalite - B Grade

A  "B - grade" simply indicates a lower quality. The stone was discovered in 1811. It was first found in Greenland and then located in Ontario, Canada.

What is it made up of?

  • These white bands are actually formations of calcite. These white bands are actually formations of Calcite.

Colour range:

  • B - grade sodalite isn't as vibrant as A - grade sodalite. Typically B - grade displays a medium to deep navy blue with significant white or even grey veining throughout. It has also been described as similiar to denim.

Mohs hardness scale:

  • 5.5 to 6.

Where is it found?

  • It is often sourced from Brazil and also Canada. Other known locations include: Portugal, USA, Burma, Russia, Namibia and Romania.

Sodalite (B Grade) meaning:

  • Similar to other blue stones like lapis lazuli, aquamarine, and peacock ore, the sodalite crystal healing properties promote peace and tranquillity, which works to connect our physical and spiritual selves.
