Flower Agate also known as 'Cherry Blossom Agate' is a type of Agate with opaque 'chalcedony' inclusions that resemble tiny floral formations. The unique patterns in Flower Agate are believed to be the result of ancient volcanic activity.

What is it made up of?

• Primarily composed of chalcedony, a microcrystalline variety of quartz, with inclusions of other minerals that create the distinctive 'flower' or plume-like patterns.

Colour range:

• Flower agates colour is typically find to be pale pinks, blush or beige hues and milky whites. The formation of the 'flowers' are agate and are typically white in colour. However, some 'flowers' can be red, pink, brown and on rare occasions even green.

Mohs hardness scale:

• 6.5 - 7

Where is it found?

• Predominantly found in Madagascar and is also considered to be a relatively rare gemstone, due to the difficulty extracting it.
