Commonly used for jewelry, ornamental objects and also sculpture making.

What is it made up of?

• Malachite is made up of copper, oxygen and carbon.

Colour range:

• It often features a banded patterns throughout the stone. The colour ranges from green so dark it's nearly black, to vibrant shades of green - light to dark.

Mohs hardness scale:

• 3.5 to 4.

Where is it found?

• Commonly found in Zambia, Namibia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Australia, USA and France.

Malachite meaning:

• It is commonly referred to as the "stone of transformation". Associated with emotional healing, protection and also growth. It is also known historically to be used to protect against the evil eye.
