Prehnite
Prehnite is actually named after Colonel Hendrik Von Prehn who was a Dutch military commander, who is actually credited with the discovery of prehnite in South Africa in 1774. It was also the first mineral to be named after a person and also the first mineral described in South Africa. Prehnite is also sometimes called, 'new jade', 'grape jade' or 'chiltonite'.
What is it made up of?
- Prehnite is a natural stone. It is composed of calcium, aluminum, oxygen and silicon.
Colour range:
- It is typically green-yellow, however, it can also be colourless, yellow, grey or even brown-yellow.
Mohs hardness scale:
- 6 to 6.5
Where is it found?
- It is found in various locations around the world. For example: South Africa, Australia and the USA.
Prehnite meaning:
- It is considered to be a "prophecy stone". It is believed to enhance ones intuition, energetic connectivity and also enhance their vision.
