Rhodonite

It was first discovered in 1819. The name 'rhodonite' historically comes from the Greek work for 'rose' due to the colour.

What is it made up of?

• It is primarily composed of manganese, however often contains varying amounts of magnesium, iron and calcium.

Colour range:

• Compact masses in colours of rose, red and pink with brown and red mottling and patches of black veining due to oxidation of the manganese.

Mohs hardness scale:

• 5.5 to 6

Where is it found?

• It is found worldwide, including: India, Russia, USA, Sweden and Mexico.
• This stock is from Tamworth, NSW and Coomera, Qld.

Rhodonite meaning:

• Rhodonite is known for its capacity to bring emotional healing and to release blocked energy from within the heart chakra. It has a strong heart-based energy with a useful healing vibration. It helps to bring peace to troubled relationships and by its action to stimulate acceptance, forgiveness, and unconditional love towards others.
