Tiger's eye - gold is a direct response from the process of degradation under the influence of weather of the "falcon eye". It is a rather popular stone for making jewellery, as it is quite affordable.

What is it made up of?

• The process in which tiger's eye - gold is made is relatively straight forward. It is formed in a process where parallel veins of crocidolite are than replaced by silica. From that, the iron from the crocidolite oxidizes to give it that unmistakable look.

Colour range:

• It is a chatoyant precious stone of yellow golden colour with a variants of colours.

Mohs hardness scale:

• 6.5 to 7.

Where is it found?

• Tiger's eye is actually quite rare in regard to worldwide distribution, but owing to sizable deposits located in South Africa and Thailand
• This current stock comes from South Africa.

Tiger's eye - gold meaning:

• It has been recognised to be associated with protection, confidence, good fortune and courage. Historically, it has been known to be worn as a protective talisman by soldiers.
