Tiger's Eye - Red

The best quality of tiger's eye - red  is typically found in South Africa. It is believed that Roman soldiers wore tiger's eye - red into battle for strength and focus. As well as believed the Egyptians wore it for strength and vitality.

What is it made up of?

• It is believed to be form through the alteration of crocidolite, which is a type of asbestos mineral.

Colour range:

• It ranges from a very rich, very deep red to a almost blazing orange brown. It does have that chatoyant lustre, which means the colours 'shift' as it moves in light.

Mohs hardness scale:

• 6.5 to 7.

Where is it found?

• The majority is found in South Africa, however, is have been located in Australia, India, USA and Brazil before.
• This current stock comes from South Africa.

Tiger's eye - red meaning:

• It has been recognised to be associated with motivation, protection, grounding and courage. Historically, it has been known to be worn as a protective talisman by soldiers.
